Happy Black History Month, everyone! Each week of February, I will feature a black owned business that I know and love. It is so exciting to see so many people go into business for themselves while providing products that are tailored to the minority community. So, it is important that we support and invest in each other. Let's get started!

My first feature is EmpressMoret owned by Keondra. EmpressMoret is a plant-based body care line. Now, this is not my first time mentioning her on my site. If you recall, her green tea salt scrub was the star of my chemical free skin care regimen during the summer. Well, of course I'm still using it along with her amazing face wash made with black soap, aloe Vera juice and great oils to tone and maintain moisture in the skin. What I love most about EmpressMoret, besides the amazing products, is the affordability. You and I can agree that trying to achieve and maintain healthy skin can get very costly and frustrating, especially if the product is a total flop. Also, Keondra's customer service never ceases to amaze me. Her sweet, calm spirit shines through each time I communicate with her about an order. So, I had the honor of asking Keondra a few questions so you all can get to know her a little better and understand why EmpressMoret is a brand worth exploring.

What’s your business’s mission/goal?

K: I want to provide green beauty products to people of color that is affordable. — I will be expanding my business within the next two years with skin, hair, body, & makeup products paired with eco friendly packaging.

How long have you been in business?

K: Two years in July.

What’s the toughest part about having your own business?

K: Balancing work and my personal life. Being a mother of three. I want to make sure I spend enough time with each child, but still have enough time to build for our future.

What’s the most fulfilling?

K: I put in a lot of time and research to find the cleanest ingredients and create a perfect formulation for each product, so hearing and seeing positive feedback on how my products are healing customers in various ways brings me joy and the drive to keep pursuing my dreams.

What is your top tip for achieving/maintaining healthy skin?

K: Discovering your skin type- oily, dry, normal, or combination. Then create a simple regimen with products that work with your skin. And drink water!
